Staffordshire Documentary Wedding Photographer Stuart James: dovecliff hall wedding

Alena and Anthony first came to talk to me about their wedding at the end of last year, and I knew I was the perfect wedding photographer for them as soon as we started discussing their plans, and the relaxed unobtrusive style of wedding photography they were looking for.

Their wedding was held at Tutbury Church - which I hadn"t been to in many years - and the Dovecliff Hall Hotel in Stretton, Burton-upon-Trent - a new venue for me, but one that I absolutely loved working at and cannot wait to be invited back to. The Dovecliff Hall is a stunning venue, with character throughout on the inside, and beautiful gardens that really do lend themselves to wedding photographs, spoiling the photographer with a choice of possibilities, and with better weather on the day for Alena and Anthony, we would have definitely explored a lot more than we did. But alas, the weather was not kind to us on the day, and started with heavy rain in the morning, which looked set to stay throughout the day, but thankfully, upon arriving at the Dovecliff Hall we were presented with the smallest window to take advantage of - so out we headed for the Bride and Groom portraits around the grounds, and the family photographs that we hadn"t captured at the church.

Starting off in the morning capturing Alena with her closest friends and family getting ready set the tone for a fantastic day, and with the beautiful dress from Belda Bridal complimenting Alena"s hair and makeup perfectly, and the Bridesmaids in their perfect dresses from Monsoon, the whole wedding party looked spectacular...and it must be said, so did Anthony and the boys too, with Anthony"s suit (picked for him by Alena it must be noted) from Moss Brothers and the Groomsmen in the outfitters from Slaters, the whole wedding party really did look the business.

Upon arrival to the church it was such a pleasure to meet a relaxed, warm and welcoming vicar, who completely understood the importance of being in the right place to capture the photographs during the ceremony, and couldn"t have been more of a pleasure to work alongside. It was even more special however for the guests at the wedding as the vicar had previously conducted the marriage of three of the Bridesmaids in recent years, so truly had a close connection to the wedding.

Following the ceremony and the family photographs in the shelter of the grand doorway at Tutbury Church the rest of the day at the Dovecliff could not have gone more perfectly.
